Etisalat BIS Now Capped. Confirmed!

I think Etisalat Nigeria just shot themselves on the foot. Earlier today, i recieved a sms from them that i have used up the allocated BB10 data bundle allotted to me. The sms however ended by suggesting i subscribe to a data plan to keep enjoying the service. What ever that implies, leaves a lot to be desired. To be this, I was taken aback, I must confess; i am a heavy data user. Right after the sms, my BIS came to a halt. Email messages stopped, could not ping and browse.

After several failed attempts at reaching to a customer rep, i was made to understand i had crossed the said allotted bandwidth. According to the information, the development is quite recent and is not even enlisted on their website. The situation automatically implies that, every BIS package from the Etisalat network has been capped and is no longer unlimited as was the case. I however expressed my disappointment to the lady that attended to me, owning to the fact that, before such developments are staked and throwing at the customers, adequate awareness ought to be made. I find it offensive to live in the guise of silly changes of that nature. My loyalty and customership has just been jettisoned.

In all, it is quite easy to blame this change on the ample clamps the blackberry 10 series have with them, but the network providers are wrong to assume same platforms over all blackberry devices. For Etisalat, i believe they will lose a handful of loyal subscribers that were drawn to them all because they provided unlimited blackberry service in the true sense of the word.

New:Ativ Q - Samsung Win8 & Android Jelly-Bean Tablet

Electronics giant Samsung unveiled the ATIV Q today, a new tablet that runs two different operating systems simultaneously, Windows 8 and Android version 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) operating systems.

The ATIV Q offers nine hours of battery life on a full charge, which isn’t bad considering the processor and high-definition display. There’s also the dual-booting to worry about, which comes with some new software called SideSync to share various data between the two separate operating systems.

Fact? Tecno Is Winning The Smartphone War In Nigeria

While Samsung has finally dethroned Nokia as the Word's largest phone vendor, it may have to engage in another battle for dominance in Nigeria; a country with the biggest Africa Smartphone market and powering millions of active mobile lines. BusinessNews places the figure at over 110 million active telecom subscribers.

Nokia had earlier locked that region with the company selling overpriced phones but once Samsung introduced the Galaxy series running on the Android platform, it wasn't too long before a steep shift in the direction of Android smartphones became obvious and a subsequent decline in the overall market share of Nokia.

The South Korean company has not only dominated the Smartphone market share in Nigeria but it's TV series has also sold like hot-cakes. Now, the success story of Galaxy series has come under heavy treat by Tecno; a Chinese company which has been doing alot of things right in the last few years. Tecno's new brand of smartphones have attracted a vast majority of Nigerian youths who are finding the phones much more affordable and having specifications similar to the Samsung Galaxy series. One major boost and what has swayed alot of Nigerians to the Tecno brands is that the smartphones being produced also runs on the Android platfrom.

Mobile Technology: Lumia 925 Windows Phone By Nokia

The Nokia Lumia 928 is now available internationally as the Nokia Lumia 925. Watch the video of the Nokia's flagship Windows Phone 8 smartphone.
Nokia preloaded the Lumia 925 with the Smart Camera app - it features several modes including burst mode (10 shots at 5MP), Best Shot (picks the best of the burst), Action Shot (Sequence shot on the HTC One, Drama shot on the Galaxy S4) and Motion focus (adds motion blur to static objects, as if you're tracking the moving object with the camera). You can also remove moving objects and pick the best face for each person.

The screen is 4.5" in diagonal and has WXGA resolution – that's 768 x 1280. More importantly it's an AMOLED with ClearBlack and Gorilla Glass 2, instead of an LCD. Unsurprisingly, the Qualcomm chipset of the Lumia 925 packs a dual-core Krait processor at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM, which is the best that WP8 currently supports.

The phone has an aluminum frame around the side, while the back is polycarbonate. The body is just 8.8mm thick and weighs 135g - much more acceptable than the Lumia 920. Inside it is a 2,000mAh battery, same as the Lumia 920 and Lumia 928. The battery is non-removable and there's no wireless charging out of the box - you can enable that with a thin charging cover.

The Nokia Lumia 925 will be available in Europe and China this June for €470 ($610) and should come to the US later on.

Footnote:
In a way, this still doesn't meet the quad core android phones. Nokia still needs to step up. It can be a market strategy anyways. I believe they can do better.
It is a beautiful phone no doubt, but mobile technology has advanced beyond this.
