Facts About Boko Haram That Will Change Your Perception.

A few reasons why Boko Haram gained the upper hand over Nigeria and some facts about Boko Haram - By: Jasper Azuatalam - May 2, 2014.

1. The government misunderstood Boko Harram to be a Northern conspiracy against a South-South president. They forget that the first uprising was in 2009 when Yar'Adua was still president. It may be too late for us to wait to find out after a South-south president, when Boko Haram would not stop their attacks.

2. Boko Haram was underestimated by Nigeria and her government; many facts pointed to that and one of which is the attempted negotiation with the sect.

3. Our security men on the field are not well motivated to fight the sect and they do not trust the government to be void of complacency.

4. Corruption and insincerity on the part of the government in the fight against Boko Haram.

Facts that we must accept to begin an effective war against Boko Haram:
a. Boko Harram is a terror organization and one of the tactics of every terror organization is deceit. They trick their targets with false claims so they do not understand their true nature and origin, so the fight against them can either be impossible or difficult.

b. Terrorist organizations do not dialogue, though they may pretend to in an attempt to deceive their target.

c. Terrorists have only one goal and that is to cause terror. Their satisfaction is in killing, maiming, and causing pain to their target.

d. Terrorists have no religious or tribal loyalties. When they pretend to do, they only aim to deceive their target and gain an upper hand.

e. One of the weapons of terrorism is to cause disunity among their target and weaken their resistance.

f. The same way we have international NGOs and organizations who are investing money to make the world a better place is the same way we have international terrorists that are investing their money to make the world a bitter place and terrorize humans.

g. International terrorists are investing in Boko Harram and causing terror in Nigeria.

h. Boko Harram has declared war against Nigeria and the only way to stop them is to unite and fight back
we must diagnose our sickness and identify it before we get a cure. It is dangerous to have Typhoid fever and be treating malaria.

To an ordinary Southerner, Boko Haram is the creation of northern elites to make the Jonathan's administration ungovernable. To an ordinary Northerner, Boko Haram is the creation of the Jonathan-led government in order to decimate the population of northerners and to destroy their economy. But to Boko Haram there is no distinction between northerner and southerner or Muslim and Christians. Their goal is to cause terror and their target knows no such bounds.

Those who are asking the government for money to talk to Boko Haram over dialogue are just trying to take advantage of our pains to exploit the government and the people. There is nothing to talk about. Boko Haram is a terrorist group. The only thing we can do is to stop them.

Footnotes
My annoyance is on why the FG waited for so much lives to be lost before taking the bull by the horn. However a success is a success. Kudos to Jonathan for finally growing the balls to tackle the menace and congratulations to all Nigerians. Can't leave out the "civilian JTF" who finally played a key role that they failed to do from the beginning.

Moreso, Hope this cease fire is not in anyway related to the Ramadan fast coming up . ..

I hope its a genuine plea from the haramite

For those of us looking for visual evidence, it is legitimate to do so. However it is 100% at the discretion of the army to release or not to release visual evidence. This is a military operation and no child's play.

Army Pose 24-hr Curfew Imposed On Parts Of Maiduguri

Nigeria’s military on Saturday imposed a round-the-clock curfew in parts of Maiduguri, the home base of Boko Haram Islamists, as a massive offensive against the insurgents presses on across the region.

“In order to sustain special operations in the face of recent Boko Haram attacks, (a) 24-hour curfew is hereby imposed in the following wards” of Maiduguri, a military statement said, listing 12 neighbourhoods considered Boko Haram strongholds.

Remark:
Indeed, continuous luck is what i wish the soldiers who are putting their lives on the line to remedy this situation. I just hope and pray that innocent civilians are kept outta harms way. 24hrs curfew is no joke, more especially for the poor who feed from hand to mouth. I witnessed a dusk to dawn curfew few years back in my home town in Kogi, and i must say, the experience was'nt sweet at all. But if that is what is needed to restore peace and civil order, so be it.

True Confessions Of A Captured Boko Haram Terrorist?

Be ready for a bumpy read, but be sure to find it interesting. At least, so I think.

While terrorism and wanton acts of destruction go on unabated in Nigeria, another can of worms has been opened regarding the identities of the real sponsors of the deadly Boko Haram group.

Sheikh Haliru, a founding member of the dreaded jama’aful Ahlul sunna wal Liddawati wal Jihad also referred to as the Boko Haram sect who has since found a new faith made startling revelations recently when he named some well placed Nigerians as the financial backbone of the sect.

Sani Haliru who was born to a "Nigerien" father and a Nigerian mother grew up in Wulari, in Borno State where his mother hails from. Like most boys, he became an Almajiri at the age of ten and was trained for four years. At 14, he was sentto Kano where he studied at Sheikh Abubakar Gumi School of Arabic Studies. Apart from being studying at the feet of the popular Sheikh Gumi, Haliru prided himself as a mentee of the late Al Quaeda leader, Osama bin Laden.

"We Will Release A Deadly Blow If MEND Dare Attack Muslims" - Boko Haram

The security situation in Nigeria is high combustible at the moment. We are in the era or threats
and counter threats. I think these talks of attacks are dangerous signals that should get everyone worried:

Reacting to the latest threat by the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND,
to commence bombing of mosques and killing of Muslims from May 31, in retaliation for
Boko Haram's killing of Christians, the AYC has promised to deal a deadly blow on Southern Nigeria
if MEND should attack any Mosque or kill any Muslim.

Sad: Boko-Haram Kills WAEC Students And Principal In Borno.

JUST as Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State is about putting behind it the recent killing of six secondary school teachers, including a principal, the local government was again plunged into mourning as many students were, on Saturday, murdered in cold blood by some gunmen suspected to be members of the Jama’atul Ahlis Sunnah Lid’ Awati, also known as Boko Haram.

Sunday Tribune learnt that the gunmen killed many students of Monguno Secondary School by slitting their throats, after laying an ambush for them as they returned home from centres where they wrote the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Monguno is 135 kilometres North of Maiduguri, the state capital; and it is considered to be an epicentre of activities of the Islamist sect.

On Failed Amnesty Deal For Boko Haram: Igbos, Yorubas Flee Borno

Following the rejection of the federal government amnesty offer by the spiritual leader of the jama'atul ahlis sunnah lid' awati wal jihad (Boko Haram), Sheikh Abubakar Shekau, residents of Maiduguri, particularly Igbo and Yoruba communities are beginning to move out of the state for fear of attack.

Speaking with Daily Post in Maiduguri, Mr. Uche Abraham said he wondered why this problem has continued to linger when a matter of such demands urgent and wise approach to be resolved.

According to Uche "I think with the Boko Haram rejecting dialogue or amnesty, trouble looms. I know I am not fully prepared to leave Maiduguri, but I just have to leave because I smell more troubles coming."

He said he was not prepared to leave the state initially, owing to his belief that the crisis was coming to an end, but with the refusal of amnesty extended to the Boko Haram by the federal government, the state is still threatened, hence not safe for him.

This Nigeria is really a funny place to live in. So many comic relieves roll up by the day.

Well, finally the leader of the notorious Boko Haram Militia has responded to all the amnesty drama going on in the presidency.

In a 30 minute recording circulated to new agencies, Shekau rejected any form of amnesty being offered to them by FG. He demanded an apology from the government. Saying that government should seek pardon from them, and even if government does seek, they are not ready to give amnesty to the FG.

Oritsejafor Speaks- Amnesty For Boko Haram Is Wickedness.

Planned amnesty is wickedness - Oritsejafor

The President, Christian Association of Nigeria, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has said it will be an act of wickedness, if President Goodluck Jonathan declares amnesty for Boko Haram.

Oritsejafor said the pardon could only be granted when members of the sect admitted their wrongdoings. He queried what would be the fate of the victims of the sect’s insurgencies, should its members be allowed to escape prosecution.

While addressing journalists at the 80th birthday ceremony of the President, Apostolic Church of Nigeria, Pastor Gabriel Oladele Olutola, in Lagos, the CAN president warned that Jonathan should not toy with the future of Nigeria by trading off its security on the altar of politics.

He said, “I don’t know his ambition for second term because I am not a politician; I am a pastor. But that (amnesty) would be wicked. I don’t see why he would have to do that and I don’t see why he would have to consider that because we are facing a very serious situation in Nigeria.

Igbos Feel Betrayed As GEJ Offers Amnesty To Boko Haram.

Several reactions have trailed the recent amnesty bid thrown at the members of the dreaded Boko Haram extremist group by the GEJ led FGN. For most people, the bid shows a senseless, and incapable government that has little or no ability to combat social crimes and security challenges in the face of the travesties that be-worm the state of the nation. The Igbo ethnicity personally feel angst the most, and some have taken it personal, since the ethnic group somehow happen to be the most hit of the terror victims. No fewer than 5,000 people have been killed by the incessant acts of terror that have been dished out by the terror group known as Boko Haram.

Some Igbo voices have been noted as seen below:

# According to one Ifeduba; " it's clear that Mr President took for granted the support of the igbos. You cant grant amnesty to people who have killed our brethren." His point owes to the coming elections for next year; oweing to the premise that, GEJ might infact be trying hard to score a cheap political point by garnering supports from the North.
