Music video director Aswad Ayinde jailed 90 yrs for fathering 6 kids with his own daughters ,written by olagideon

Music video director Aswad Ayinde, 55, who
won an MTV award for directing The Fugees'
'Killing Me Softly' in 1996, has been
sentenced to 90 years in prison for
repeatedly raping his six daughters and
fathering six children with them. *spits out*
how disgusting is this guy?
Aswad Ayinde is accused of raping his
daughters to create a "pure" bloodline,
fathered six kids with them from the
mid-1980s to 2002 – and delivered the
babies himself, the court heard during his
trial last Friday
"He said the world was going to end, and it
was just going to be him and his offspring
and that he was chosen," his ex-wife,
Beverly Ayinde testified at a pre-trial
hearing.
Prosecutors said Ayinde kept the kids from
blabbing about the rape by beating them and
isolating them from other children. All his
daughters were home schooled.
"I was afraid to ever accuse him of being
demented or being a pedophile," Beverly
Ayinde, who had 9 children with him told
the court. "I knew the word, but I wouldn't
dare use it because it would result in a
beating."
Prosecutors revealed that Mr. Ayinde began
having sex with his second daughter from the
time she eight-years-old, impregnating her
four times. He faces three more trials over
the alleged assaults.

Nigerian wins right to stay in the UK,written by olagideon

A Nigerian woman, Roseline Akhalu, who was
facing deportation by the UK government
has finally won the right to stay in the UK.
In 2004, Akhalu moved to Leeds to study,
where she was later diagnosed with kidney
failure. She had a kidney transplant in 2009
and gained her stay based on the fact that
immunosuppressant drugs are not easily
accessible in Nigeria.
She said, "I will die if deported to Nigeria
because I would have no access to
immunosuppressant drugs."
The campaign for Akhalu to remain in
Yorkshire received overwhelming worldwide
support, with British actor Colin Firth said
to have also campaigned for her stay in the
UK.

Did Spanish Train Crash Driver Make Speed Boast on Facebook?,written by olagideon

On Wednesday, at 8.41 p.m. local time, a
train derailed and crashed near the
northwestern Spanish city of Santiago de
Compostela, leaving 80 people dead and 31
critically injured.
Months before the tragic crash, the driver
of the train, Francisco Jose Garzón Amo, 52,
allegedly boasted of traveling at high speeds
on his Facebook page, according to multiple
media sources who saw his account, which is
now deleted.

The train, which was coming from the capital
Madrid, derailed at 180 kilometers per hour
(111 mph) in a sector where the speed limit is
just 80 (50 mph), according to Spanish
leading newspaper El Pais. It was going so
fast that one car flew 50 feet away from
the tracks. A video taken from a railway
security camera, and embedded above, shows
the moment of the fatal crash. (Warning: the
images might be disturbing for some
viewers.)
According to another publication, El Mundo,
on March 2012, Garzón also posted a picture
of a speedometer at 200 kph (124 mph.) You
can see a zoomed in screenshots in this video.
After one of his friend wrote: "Whoa you are
going so fast, braaaaaaake," Garzón replied
that "If I went any faster, they'd fine me,"
before adding that "the speedometer isn't
manipulated."
His friend made a reference to speeding and
how he'd lose the points on his driver's
license, to which Garzón responded in all
caps: "How fun it would be to drive side-by-
side the police and then pass them by,
triggering the speed radar. Haha, bit of a
fine for [train operator] Renfe, ha ha,"
according to the report.
Garzón, who had 30 years of experience, is
now under investigation. He had started
operating the train just 60 miles before the
crash, and tests performed after the crash
reported that he wasn't under the influence
of alcohol, as reported by El Pais.

EXPOSED! See The Real Reasons Tonto Dikeh And Mercy Johnson Are Quarreling Seriously, written by olagideon

The battle going on between these two
controversial actresses, Mercy Johnson and
Tonto Dikeh is not new to you, but many do
not really know the cause of this brouhaha.
We gathered that Tonto was enjoying the
best of her time when Mercy got married
and later got pregnant, reason being that,
she became a hot cake that producers
request for in and out of Lagos. Mercy's
short absence created enormous wealth for
her and she was really feeding hard on that.
Now, Mercy is fit and active to return to her
groove, Tonto, people in the know, got
threatened by that and she became so
agitated, went on social media to ridicule the
mother of one, Mercy.
"Tonto has never liked Mercy. Starting from
when Nollywood started shifting ground to
Asaba, Mercy was always in hot demand,
which obviously made Tonto to begin seeing
her as a competitor. This, among other things
combined to make them impenitent enemies,"
the source, who is a stakeholder in the
industry disclosed.
Only God knows what will result to this fight.
Meanwhile, the return of Mercy Johnson is
causing a lot of stir in Nollywood as all the
actresses are seeing it as a threat just like
Tonto Dikeh.

My 1st performance fee was N300 (1%) "Before I Write A Book' - By Basketmouth ,written by olagideon

Comedian Basketmouth will share short
stories about his experience with people
while growing in the Nigerian entertainment
industry in a series called 'Before I Write a
Book.' He plans to write a book eventually so
this is a pre-entry to that project, thus, the
title. Below is the first story he shares
Back stage at the Rothmans Groove tour
which held @ TBS in 1998, there I was
seated with the likes of The Plantashun
Boiz,Dr. Fresh,Remedies and more...I was
just a young boy trying to weigh his
options on what direction to go with his
career as drumming,rapping,producing and
comedy were few of my options.
That night was the 1st time I met Tony
Tetuila, one of those humble guys you
come by,he was warm and accommodating
considering the obvious fact that I was
nobody in the industry.
Fast forward a few months later, Comedy
had won me over and in the course of my
hustle and journey to where I'm yet to get
to, I bumped into Tetuila in Festac, just
about the time his single 'you don hit my car'
came out.
We reconnected while playing catch up. We
had common friends so 'bumping' into each
other became a tradition. The 1st time he
saw me perform @ a concert was at a gig The
Plantashun Boiz used to host @ the Den in
Ikeja.
I must have impressed him because not long
after that night, I got a call from him asking
that we meet up. We did and he took me for
a meeting in Lagos Island (Shell Office). A
director at Shell was retiring and a send-
forth party was being held in his honour. My
performance fee then was N10,000, Tony
pushed it up and convinced the client to pay
N30,000 which they paid cash. Prior to this,
they had never heard of me and only used me
because Tony believed in me and stood up for
me, convincing them to buy in.
I was paid in full a week to the show.
After picking up the cash I went straight
home. Now here I was, a young comic with his
1st major pay-out of N30,000. Considering
the fact that my 1st performance fee was
N300 (1%) of what I had in my pocket,I
couldn't help but to thank God.
I got home, gave my mum N25,000 and kept
N5,000 from which I bought a shirt,pants
and shoes from Tejuosho market to wear for
the event. Ready for my first big show..

Convicted Nigerian rapist to be deported from the UK

Convicted rapist, Ekene Anoliefo, 38, who is
a son of a Nigerian politician, has lost his
appeal to stay in the UK and will be deported
back to Nigeria after serving time for rape.
Ekene was jailed for nine years for the rape
of a 19 year old woman in Aberdeen, who he
pretended to help before holding her captive
in his car, driving her to his flat and then
raping her there.
Ekene had been fighting to stay in the UK
since he was ordered for deportation in
December 2012, claiming that deportation
would breach his human rights. His lawyers
argued that he had lawfully lived in the UK
for four years as a student and had hoped to
remain in the country after serving time but
the UK government don't want to hear none
of that. They said he's 'a dangerous sexual
predator' and want him out of the UK.

Pastor arrested in bedroom with a police man's wife

A 50-year-old pastor of one of the
pentecostal churches in Nigeria was yesterday
arrested in a mobile police officer's bedroom
at Iyaba Umudim, Nnewi in Anambra State.
He was allegedly trying to make love to the
policeman's wife. Unknowing to the pastor, the
policeman was lying in wait for him. The
suspect, a father of four from Ngwa in Abia
State was said to have been making love
advances to the policeman's wife as the two
families lived in the same building and the
woman had always rejected.
It was gathered that the woman had always
told the randy pastor to let her alone each
time he tried to seduce her even though the
pastor was said to have promised her N50,
000 for a start if she allowed him have an
affair with her. Also, the woman always
relayed the pastor's advances to her husband
who asked her to play along with the pastor.
The pastor's alleged sin caught up with him
yesterday when he called the woman's husband,
serving with Mopol 29, Awka on phone at about
4:00pm asking him whether he would return to
Nnewi after work and the policeman told him
(the pastor) that he had a special assignment
in Asaba, Delta State.
The police officer said: "The pastor apparently
happy started praying for me that God would
protect me in my journey, and all that, and I
said Amen, but he did not know that I was
already in Nnewi when I answered his call." The
police officer said he later secretly returned
to his house having arranged with his wife to
catch the randy man. At the wee hours,
according to him, he 'laid ambush' in his
bedroom waiting for the pastor's next action.
"It was around 2:23am when the pastor came
and we left the sitting room open. He tiptoed
into the sitting room with only his trousers and
singlet on him, coming bare-footed and sat
down in the palour. "He called my wife who
came out from the bedroom to welcome him.
Minutes after, he requested that he and my
wife should go into the bedroom and he was
ushered in. He flashed his torchlight in the
bedroom and appeared to have a premonition
as my wife went back to luck the door at the
sitting room. Then he had taken his position on
the bed and suddenly, I came out from my
hiding place in the bedroom and gripped him
and a fight ensued.
"He gave me several bites on my left arm and
fingers. By then the fight had taken us to the
sitting room where my plasma television,
handset and other property were destroyed in
his struggle to free himself. If not for other
sympathizers who were attracted to the noise
he would not have been over powered," the
policeman recounted. He said members of the
vigilance group were later invited as the pastor
pleaded for forgiveness attributing his action
to the work of the devil and promised to pay
for the damaged property and any amount of
money for him to be set free and the incident
concealed. He was, however, taken to Nnewi
Central Police Station for further
investigation. Contacted, the Anambra State
police image-maker, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka
said he had not been briefed on the incident.

Matter of hearts, written by olagideon

A Professor was teaching about
Proverbs 15: 1. He asked his students, 'why
do we shout in anger? Why do
people shout at each other when they are
upset?' The students thought for a
while. One said, because we lose
our calm. But why shout when the other
person is just next to
you? Asked the professor. Isn't it
possible to speak to him or her with a soft
voice? Why do you
shout at a person when you are
angry? The students gave some answers but
none satisfied the
Professor. Finally he explained, 'when two
people are angry at
each other, there is a distance in their hearts
psychologically.
To cover the distance, they must shout to be
able to hear each other. The angrier they are,
the stronger they will shout to hear each
other
through that great distance. Then the
Professor asked, 'What happens when two
people fall in
love? They don't shout at each other but talk
softly. Why?
Because their hearts are psychologically
close. The distance between them is very
close. The Professor continued, 'When
they love each other even more, what
happens? They don't
speak,
only whisper and they even get closer
to each other in
their love. Finally they even need not
whisper, they only look at each other and
that's all.....
So next time you shout on a loved one, know

that you are
creating distance between your heart and
that person's heart.
Proverbs 15:1 says a gentle answer turns
away wrath, but a
harsh word stirs up anger.

mother-in-law and I". We as a family are
in the best of place in our lives currently.
Someone from some place, just sat down
and decided to construct a lie: a total
fabrication from their own imagination.
He went on further "I love my wife and I
love her very much, nothing anyone does
can bring any division between us and
between our families. The Yobos & the
Fashanus have a great relationship, a
fantastic one at that and very good
mutual respect for each other, and we
thank God for that.
There was never a time that I sent my
Mother-in-Law packing from my home for
being a bad influence on her own daughter,
who is my wife. How can people just come
up with stories about what never
happened.
We have no problems at all'. We have 2
great houses next to each other in
Istanbul, Turkey that is big enough to
accommodate our families, without anyone
invading on anyone's privacy. They are just
trying to destroy the 2 families.
When we first came across the stories, we
thought okay it was just one of those silly
little gossips and that it would soon fade
away and be forgotten. Only for us to
read it and found out it was very well
orchestrated pack of lies, from the
beginning to the end of it: they didn't
even know where I am from and claimed I
am from Plateau State.
They constructed lies about my mother-
in-law and her family, claiming all that is
not true and that they have no proof of.
Most definitely, this is just somebody
trying to damage these families. I can tell
you categorically, I would not swap my
wife for anybody in this world, no woman
from anywhere can take her place, she
means the world to me.
The number of calls we have received over
this falsehood is unbelievable. People
calling to find out what was going on. I tell
you now and this is the absolute truth-
"My wife is my best friend, she's my
queen, she's my everything, our families
are doing great and doing very well
together. Anyone thinking otherwise is
only wasting his or her time.
I am not going to allow anyone disrespect
my Mother-in-law wrongfully. I am not
going to accept this. They have stepped
way out of line this time and I am not
going to take it lying low. We would
definitely seek legal redress.

Man Dies After Winning Beer Drinking Competition

Written by olagideon

Joaquín Alcaraz Gracia claimed the title of beer drinking champ during a festival in Spain Wednesday, but his victory was short- lived. The 45-year-old man died after the beer drinking contest, during which he reportedly consumed six liters of brew (about 12.5 pints) in 20 minutes.
According to local reports, Gracia won the drinking festival's top prize and hoisted his trophy into the air. But the event, held in the Gea y Truyols district of Murcia, took a tragic turn soon after when Gracia began to vomit and didn't stop.
At that time, witnesses called emergency
services, believing Gracia was suffering from alcohol poisoning. Seated in a chair, Gracia was held upright while bystanders waited for medical personnel. Observers noted to local
media that the heavyset man appeared to
nod off. By the time the medical team arrived, Gracia was reportedly in cardiac arrest. The 45- year-old was rushed to a local hospital, but passed away shortly after his arrival Wednesday night.
Though Gracia's alcohol consumption is
believed to be a factor in his death, officials have not confirmed his specific cause of death. In fact, Mayor José Manuel Gracia walked back the official tally of how much Gracia drank, telling local newspaper La Verdad the winner consumed two to three liters during the contest.
Under the rules of the drinking competition, contestants must drink as many liter-glasses of beer as possible in the 20-minute time span.
The beer drinking contest is part of the
area's annual festival, which has been held for more than 15 years. However, following the death, future festival plans have been suspended, La Nueva España notes.

Woman Gives Birth In Kirikiri Prison

Written by olagideon

A pregnant robbery accused, Alhaja Sherifat Ashabi Adeleke, has given birth to a baby boy in prison in Lagos, southwest Nigeria. Sherifat was arrested recently by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Lagos Police Command, for her alleged roles in trans- border armed robbery operations.
The 35-year old suspect whose gang members usually operate from Cotonou, Republic of Benin, delivered her 3.7 kilogram baby at the police clinic recently.
The paraga (local herb laced with alcohol) seller who was arraigned with other members of her gang at the Ikeja Chief Magistrate's Court, Lagos, is now at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison Clinic with her new baby. A prison source told our reporter that the mother and her child are doing very fine at the clinic where she's currently receiving post- natal care.
Sherifat was arrested along with three other members of the gang, Mathew Ineke, Samsudeen Giwa and Gbenga Oyedele.
It was alleged that apart from robbing people of cash and other valuable items, the gang also snatch posh vehicles, especially Toyota and Honda brands in Lagos and other neighbouring southwestern states and ferry them across the border for sale.
The suspects were subsequently arraigned in court for armed robbery, possession of firearms, conspiracy among others.
Sherifat, the mother of four children
including a twin and a 16-year old daughter from her first marriage, was said to have admitted participating in two robbery operations with the gang before their arrest.
She alleged that it was her new husband,
Gbenga Oduoye, who introduced her to armed robbery, adding that he impregnated her and the new baby was his.
In her statement to the police, she allegedly narrated how she joined the robbery gang: "It was last year that I joined the gang. We are a five-man gang. Godogbo is our leader and he has up to three other gangs that he also leads.
"I have participated in two armed robbery operations. The first one was at Ore town (Ondo State in southwest Nigeria), where they (their victims) were selling recharge cards.
I did not know how much recharge cards the gang snatched but I was given cards worth N100,000. "The second operation was at Iyana-Ilogbo, where the gang leader gave four of us N20,000 to share and I got N5,000 only."
She allegedly confessed to have been the one responsible for supplying arms and ammunition to members of her robbery gang.
Speaking further on her role in the operations she had participated in, she said: "I sell paraga and I am patronised mostly by bus drivers, conductors and touts. I usually supply locally made guns to the gang. I used to collect the guns from Alhaji Gani in Benin Republic.
"I hide the short guns in my hand bag to beat security anytime I am taking them to where my gang leader picks them up at Iyana-Ilogbo in Ogun State.
"My role when we want to rob or attack shops is that I will first go to a shop and pretend as if I want to buy something and as the shop keeper is trying to sell something to me, my gang members will strike and order the shop keeper at gun point to surrender all the money from the day's sales."

Confusion in Rivers: Patience Jonathan's
Mother Not Dead
Information reaching 247ureports from
competent sources in Rivers State indicate
that the reported death of the mother of the
first lady of Nigeria may have been
misreported.
According to the information received, the
woman that died in the said car crash was not
the mother of the first lady. But our source
stated that the first lady called the woman
mother.
The name of the woman who died in the crash
is Sisi.
The remains of the deceased, who was
travelling to neighboring Bayelsa, when the
accident occurred was placed at Kpaima
Mortuary, at Elechi Beach, Diobu, Port
Harcourt, which is not far from Government
House.
Unconfirmed sources said the accident
happened at 6p.m. Monday. The political crisis
in Rivers State may have prevented the state
government from issuing an official statement
on the passage of Sisi – the woman Patience
Jonathan calls mother. Ordinarily, the
commissioner for Information and
Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari would
have issued a statement on the death on
behalf of the state government, but she was
yet to do that at the time of this report.

Benue Politics

The Igede Youth in
Politics (IYP) have warned the Benue
state chairman of the Peoples'
Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Emmanuel
Agbo to desist from meddling in the
local politics of the Igede nation.
The group alleged that Agbo was
interfering in their local politics under
the guise of settling political quarrels
even though there was none in the area.
In a press statement signed by Amogo
Oleju and Ode Ikpe, president and
secretary respectively, the youths
berated the chairman and urged him to
first put his home local government,
Okpokwu in order before venturing to
poke into the affair of Igede people.
The group added that Agbo actions
amounted to seeking cheap popularity
using the residence of late political big
wig, Ogiri Ajene to hold meetings with a
few unknown politicians in the locality.
While also frowning at the anti-party
activities of the said suspected
politicians, the youths pledged to remain
united and focused in the political
development of Igede land in the Benue
south senatorial district.

NLC threatens to Join ASU strike.

NLC threatens to join ASUU strike
on July 23, 2013 at 11:24 am in News
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Monday threatened to join the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in solidarity strike if the Federal Government failed to address the ASUU demands.
NLC President, Abdulwaheed Omar, made the threat at the opening ceremony of the "2013 Rain School'' in Uyo.
"We call on the federal government to have meaningful dialogue with ASUU with a view to implementing the agreement.
"The State Governments should equally obey the law and pay minimum wage to teachers and the local government workers as well as the 27.5 per cent teacher's enhanced salaries.
"Should these strikes persist, workers of Nigeria will not hesitate to join them in solidarity," he stressed.
Omar said the modules of the rain school were designed to train members of affiliate unions and state councils of the NLC.
"This is in order to equip them with necessary skills to empower and protect their rights at workplace.''
He said that the theme of the 2013 Rain School was imperative due to the obvious violation of workers' rights in the workplace and in the larger society.
The Akwa Ibom Chairman of NLC, Mr Unyime Usoro, commended the leadership of the congress for keeping to its promise on making Uyo the permanent host of the school.
"On our own part, we intend to ensure that the standards set five years ago that led to the permanent hosting right is not lowered.
"It is significant to note that the government of Akwa Ibom has graciously approved the building of the permanent block for Rain Schools here in Uyo to gather for the training needs of the union leaders across the nation," he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the occasion was: "Strengthening the trade Union for Defence of Workers Rights." (NAN)

Blog Feature: A Nation Of Perverts And paedophile by Femi Fani-kayode

Since the Nigerian Senate, in its infinate wisdom,
has now endorsed the "Paedophile Charter" which
seeks to make it lawful and constitutional for a girl of 9 years old to get married and to Be Intimate it is my view that we have now become a nation of perverts and paedophiles. Every Nigerian should bow his or her head in shame as from today because what the Senate did yesterday, and seeks to do in the future, by beginning the process to amend our constitution in order for it to cater for the filthy appetite and godless fantasies of child molestors and intimate predators is sordid, ungodly and unforgiveable.

Surely we ought to be seeking to protect our
children and not seeking to bed them. Yet it appears that not everyone shares our outrage and collective sense of shame. One Uche Ezechukwu made the following contribution which went viral on the social media networks and which I think speaks volumes. He wrote-
"Those who are railing against 'paedophile' senators, like Yerima Bakura, must be told that a muslim can't go wrong while imitating the examples of the Apostle of Allah himself and the founder of his religion, in the same way a christian cannot be criticized for following the examples of Jesus Christ.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) married Aisha at the age of six and consummated the marriage when she was nine. So, why are we judging muslims by our own standards?"

I appauled by these words. The truth is that I have never heard such a self-serving and specious
arguement in defence of the philosophies and
beliefs of the Ayatollah of Bakura, Senator Ahmed
Sani, the practising paedophile who married and
bedded a 12 year old Egyptian girl, as this one.
Ahmed Sani himself could not have argued it better. Yet I think that it is an utter shame. And this is more so because the individual that is putting the arguement is supposedly a christian.

The Old Testament of the Holy Bible prescribes "stoning" for adultry but that does not mean that christian countries should stone adulterers.
Neither does it mean that we should preserve the
institution of slavery or crucify petty thieves simply because the Holy Bible endorsed both practices in the Old Testament. We must accept the fact that the interpretation of biblical and koranic provisions are evolutionary and are ever changing. Jesus Himself said "laws are made for man and not man for laws".

The suggestion that paedophilia has any place in any modern and decent society simply because it was once practised in the distant past is not only a despicable arguement but it also does not make any sense. After all cannibalism, the killing of twins at birth and child and human sacrifice were once widely practised and were held as being perfectly acceptable throughout the world as well but that does not mean that we should practice any of these terrible vices today.

The young man, Uche Ezechukwu, who appears to
be defending child molestation in the name of islam, should either let someone lay with and "marry" his own 6 year old daughter or he should seal his lips forever and stop trying to defend the indefensible. His assertions, and I daresay those of Senator Ahmed Sani and anyone that shares their primitive views, are not only utterly immoral and reprehensible but they are also intellectually dishonest. I say this because the truth is that there is

NO muslim country in the world that has adopted
the "paedophile charter" where 6 or 9 year olds can marry and be bedded except for Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Word on the street. #Childnotbride

We'll Insist That Our Daughters Be Sent To School And Not To Infant Marriages.

Education is the bedrock of every society, and the education of the girl child is as important as that of her male counterpart.

We therefore are surprised that Nigeria's Senate didn't consider making it mandatory for every girl child below 18 to be in school. Instead, they gave a legislative seal of approval for the marriage of underage girls. That means even a 5 year old toddler could be married off by her parents.

Nigerians of all tribes and religions have rejected this, and therefore undertake to stand against the state-sanctioned abuse of the girl child. By tomorrow, Saturday, 20th July, 2013, we'll be signing a petition that'll be forwarded to the National Assembly, Abuja.

If you are in Abuja, the venue is: Unity Fountain, by Transcorp Hilton. Also the Park. Time is: 9am-12noon.

For those in Lagos, the venues are: 1. Ojeez Restaurant, National Stadium Surulere. 2. Alausa Park, Opposite Lagos State Governor's Office, Ikeja. 3. The Palms Shopping Mall, Lekki 4. New African Shrine, Agidingbi, Ikeja. 5. Arrangements are still on-going for those in Festac Town and it's environs.

Time is 9am-12noon.

We also ask you to volunteer your time to help us take papers to churches and mosques for signing. We need to gather as much signatures as we can push for within just 2 days. Millions of them, if we can, will speak more than mere thousands. And if the millions are in their tens, then better.

Please Use the picture on my DP and tell any living person beside you.

We will save the girl child. She's a #ChildNotBride.

The Blame Game Continues: Patience Jonathan Blames Elders For Fuelling Rivers Crisis.

Wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, on Monday faulted the contributions of some unnamed persons she referred to as “otherwise respected elders” who, by their views, had been contributing to the crisis in Rivers State.

While describing their utterances as unfortunate, she called on all feuding parties in the state to sheathe their swords in the interest of innocent women and children, who, she said, would naturally be victims of the mayhem.

Death Before Dishonour? Almustapha Promoted To Brigadier General.

Information available indicates that Major Hamza Al-Mustapha may have been Promoted to Brigadiers General. The Nigerian Army on Monday indicated that it would likely reinstate Maj. Al-Mustapha into the service following the dismissal of a murder suit against him. Al-Mustapha, the former Chief security Officer to former head of state, late Gen. Sani Abacha, regained his freedom on Friday after 14 years in detention.

A Court of Appeal, sitting in Lagos, discharged and acquitted him over an alleged conspiracy and the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, on June 4, 1996. The court had upturned a death sentence handed down on him on Jan. 30, 2013, by Justice Mojisola Dada, of a Lagos High Court.

HOW TO READ BAR CODES…! (everyonemust know)

This Post is written by Ola Gideon

ALWAYS READ THE LABELS ON THE FOODS YOU BUY–NO MATTER WHAT THE FRONT OF THE BOX OR PACKAGE SAYS, TURN IT OVER AND

READ THE BACK—CAREFULLY!
With all the food and pet products now coming from China, it is best to make sure you read label at the supermarket and especially when buying food products. Many products no longer show where they were made, only give where the distributor is located. The whole world is concerned about China-made "black-hearted goods". Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China ? The world is also concerned about GMO (Genetically Modified Organism) foods; steroid fed animals (ex: 45 days old
broiler chicken). It is important to read the bar code to track its origin. How to read Bar Codes….interesting !

Read The Details Of The Ruling That Set Free Al-mustapha

In the lead judgment delivered by Justice Rita Pemu and supported by the presiding judge, Justice Amina Augie andJustice F. O. Akinbami respectively, the court held that the prosecution failed to prove its case beyond reasonable doubt, and that there was no nexus between the appellants and the murder of Alhaja Kudirat Abiola on June 4, 1993.

The Augie led all-female appeal panel had taken over the case from Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, who withdrew on April 29, for personal reasons.

Justice Pemu in setting aside the judgment of the lower court, held that the prosecution failed to establish the charge of conspiracy and murder against the appellants and that it was foolhardy and unreasonable for the lower court to have so swiftly convicted the appellants, when it was very evident that the prosecution had a bad case.

My Take on the recent Mayhem at the Rivers House of assembly.

When somethings happen in this part of the world, awful things I mean; it is only natural to muse at why they did happen. Muse, by way of introspect and permusiveness at the originating factor of the events in perspective. An odd world we live in, we need not wait for time to tell. Its plain for all to see. And what I see should be what you see.

The recent show of shame in the Rivers state house assembly is a better testament to the far cry we have as a celebrated polity. Even in the world of animals, such abysmal behaviours are not allowed and trans-offenders are treated with high octane punishments. We are not animals, behaving to a lower standard should be an offence punishable by death. Yes, making a sane society is equal to writhing off the individuals with proven capacities to detract collective aspirations and goals towards achieving what the common goal seeks to make. The common goal of all should be pursued to full capacity and intent. All persons must act in right mind and thoughts. Not to do so is not to be deemed worthy of living in the society.

Where we find ourselves today is where we worked to be from yesterdays. That some individuals choose to act barbaric is a slight on our collective pursuit as a people. That, those 'selected' or elected to make and uphold laws and order for the people have now turned out to be law breakers and persons with murderous and homicidal tendencies tells a lot. Infact, it leaves more than enough to be desired. And don't ask me how we got ourselves to this low level. Each one of us share the blame. We are what we put forward to represent us. The leaders mirror a reflection of those they lead. We are Nigerians. We are you and I.

Picture This: 23-Yr-Old Nigerian Marries 85-yr-Old German Lady

The things young people do. Well, it's not in my position to judge the motive(s) in this kind of union, but one thing is clear, the marriage leaves so much to be desired.

Vox Populi: PHCN and investors are set to make N 1 Billion Naira monthly for doing nothing.

PHCN and their new investors have increased the Fixed charge for Pre-paid meters from N 225 to N 500 and now N750. We are told the target is N 1000 monthly. What this means is that, PHCN and the New investors, can go to bed, do nothing and still collect 1 Billion Naira every month for 1 Million subscribers of Pre-paid meters.

My God!!!how can this be happening?!Wasn't the essence of the pre-paid meters to unsure PHCN make electricity available and when it's not available, we don't pay as against the past when we usually paid NEPA for not giving Light. With this introduction of High Fixed Charges, why would a company be willing to provide regular electricity when they are guaranteed a sum of N 1 Billion every month whether they work or not. I just don't understand the formulation of laws in this country. Its such a shame what corruption has turned our politicians into. Monsters with no heart. This has to stop. Its like GSM companies charging us N 750 for just owning a Handset. We are been charged N 750 for owning a meter and yet we still pay electricity rates. Its wrong. If you agree re-broadcast until it gets to someone in position to do something. If you just sit back, you never can tell what they will do next. Charge you for your bore hole? Its possible. Let's speak out now. Re-broadcast to all ur contacts

U.S. President Barack Obama Offers $7 billion to Nigeria, others for Power Improvement

Funds from the initiative, dubbed Power Africa, will be distributed over the next five years. Obama made the announcement during his trip to South Africa, the continent's biggest economy.

"Access to electricity is fundamental to opportunity in this age. It's the light that children study by, the energy that allows an idea to be transformed into a real business. It's the lifeline for families to meet their most basic needs, and it's the connection that's needed to plug Africa into the grid of the global economy," he said.

Two-thirds of the population of sub-Saharan Africa lacks access to electricity, including more than 85% of those living in rural areas, the White House said.
