Governor
Idris Wada of Kogi State has threatened to terminate the employment of
any political officer holder in the state who fails to deliver his/her
ward in the forthcoming local government polls.
Wada issued the threat yesterday in Lokoja at the inauguration of the Reconciliation and Campaign Committee for the Local Government Election.
Wada issued the threat yesterday in Lokoja at the inauguration of the Reconciliation and Campaign Committee for the Local Government Election.
He said the
political appointees in the state should go to their various wards with
the slogan ‘Operation Win Your Ward’ as there will no sacred cow among
them who fail in the assigned task.
He also took time out to explain
that the warning become imperative in view of the crisis that greeted
the just concluded party primaries in the state as well as the threat by
some aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to work
against the interest of the party during the May 2013 local government
election.
He declared that the political office holders were
appointed into the position they are presently because they are members
of the ruling party and he stressed that any attempt by them to work
against the party will attract stiff penalties. He therefore urged those
planning to work against the party’s interest during the forthcoming
local government poll to resign from office.
