The Southeast Governors’ Forum yesterday
said it would give the late renowned writer,
Chinua Achebe, a befitting burial.
It resolved that Achebe should be given a
proper honour because he brought honour
not only to Nigeria but to Africa.
The Forum Chairman and Anambra State
Governor, Peter Obi, addressed reporters
after a meeting in Enugu.
Obi said the Forum had received the report
of the committee set up to resolve the crisis
in the Igbo socio-cultural Organisation,
Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The governor told reporters that
stakeholders and the governor also
deliberated on security and infrastructure in
the region.
“We have received the report, which we will
look into to enable us come up with a
position,” he said.
Present at the meeting were Governors
Theodore Orji (Abia), Martin Elechi (Ebonyi),
Secretary to the Government of the
Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, Special
Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on
Inter- Party Affairs, Senator Ben Obi, among
others.

Achebe was a great man, and great man deserve befitting burials. Its only natural for the Igbo race to honour one of their finest exports a dignifying mark for the after life. Achebe was a great man, and earns most respect.
